YVR launched the After-Action Review (AAR) alongside an earned media campaign, which resulted in the airport taking ownership for the problems it experienced during this crisis, and the solutions YVR was able to provide. By working with media directly, YVR demonstrated what they plan to do to reduce any of these problems in the likelihood of a similar event happening again.

The campaign resulted in 520 articles and 84 mentions on social media, leading to over 320 million earned impressions 81% of this coverage was positive, focusing on the work YVR has done to rectify the situation.

The YVR Communications team has also implemented all actions relevant to enhancing communications with public and passengers. This includes closer collaboration with operating partners when responding to disruptions, sharing information in a timelier fashion, designing and implementing new tools to support passengers, and providing real-time operational information on its website.

Since then, including a busy Spring Break and summer travel season, YVR has seen a high volume of media coverage and commentary on social media. Although not at the magnitude of December 2022, YVR has seen service disruptions, and, through its enhanced approach to communicating with the public, YVR continues to see positive to neutral reporting.
